SUPPORT FOR PARENTS WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CHILD'S mental health or behaviour

The right knowledge, resources and support can transform family life.

House sketch 500 x 500 transp..png

As a parent, you know your child best. You know what makes them happy, what to do when they’re sad and the activities that fill their hearts with joy.

That makes it even harder when your child starts behaving differently. Sometimes there’s a slow change that you can’t quite put your finger on. Other times overnight your child’s behaviour changes. Either way, when you’re at the point that your child’s behaviour is impacting your family, all the parenting strategies you’ve tried don’t work and you’re feeling exhausted, guilty, and stressed. That’s when you know you need help.

But where do you go?

You might search online, talk to their teacher or key worker, you might speak to your GP. But that doesn’t always bring clarity or a way forward.

We can help…

FROM CHALLENGING AND HIGHLY ANXIOUS TO SUCCESSFUL AND THRIVING

The Parent Harbour teaches you approaches to help your challenging or highly anxious child build their emotional resilience and reduce their anxiety through increasing their connection and safety.  What does that mean? It means we’ll work with you to understand your child, their needs and how to best parent them.

My approach focuses on doing the best for that individual child.

I don’t apply templated programmes as every child is unique and we celebrate that. Together, we’ll create an environment where your child can thrive, be happy and succeed.

As parents, that’s all we want for our children.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD

To understand your child, I’ll undertake a psychological assessment of their strengths and needs based on questionnaires completed prior to our meeting and through a deeper discussion during the initial consultation meeting. During this meeting, we’ll delve deeper into your concerns and explore your child’s history and development to better understand their behaviour in the present.

We will draw up an action plan that fits the needs of your child and your family so that you have strategies that work for the particular needs of your child. To help you to put the plan into action, you’ll be given 1-year access to our membership community where you can get support from myself and other parents who share similar concerns to you. Finally, we come together after 4-6 weeks to review progress, adjust the action plan, and discuss whether a full assessment of need is required or if other support options are needed.

This approach follows the Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle that is typically used in schools.

What’s included:

  • A psychological assessment of strengths and needs

  • A 90 minute initial consultation

  • 1 year access to the Imperfectionist Parent® Club

  • A 60 minute review meeting

Investment:

£625

For those moments when you need to talk through a particular issue or scenario.  Whether you need a sounding board or specific advice. This service uses a voice note exchange software (freely available) to exchange voice notes in moments of challenge so that we can gently and compassionately coach you through situations, in the moments you need it most.

During specific ‘office hours’ designed to overlap with key times of the day when issues arise (e.g., mornings, meal times, bedtime), you can send us voice messages, which we'll respond to by giving you encouragement and guidance to get you through those challenging times.

INTENSIVE FAMILY SUPPORT

When you need someone in your corner we’re there. This package is designed to offer you support over a longer period. Giving you time to understand and respond to your child’s behaviour and communication.

For those worried parents who live in Daventry, Brackley, Banbury, Warwick or the surrounding areas we offer home visits as part of a monthly package. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you, your family and the dynamics to offer practical support to suit your circumstances. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach and my support will always be tailored to you.

Concerned parents that live elsewhere in the UK can take advantage of our retreats. Taking place across 3 days, you’re given space to escape from your daily routine and stress to focus on reconnecting as a family and finding a way of communicating that works for you.

BUILDING YOUR TOOLKIT

You’re doing the best you can with the resources you have. The fact that you’re here, reading this now makes you a great parent because you care. But that doesn’t mean you need to have all the answers on your own.

Reaching out and seeking support for your child might be the best thing for them, and for you. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed as a parent, it means you want your child to thrive, to be happy, and to be successful. And that’s our goal too.
